About

Lydia Street is about a house and its wild and crazy and getting-bigger-every-day garden (zone 6b). We grow herbs and some vegetables and flowering plants of many kinds. Much of what we have in our garden came from our friends.

We live in the city, in an older neighborhood in an arts-and-crafts style bungalow built in the 1920s. We always seem have too many home renovation projects going at the same time and plenty of stories to share. We’ll show you what’s going on inside the house, room by room, collection by collection and tell you why (and sometimes how) we’ve done it.

We love to cook and to share food with friends and family. We do a regular feature called “This is what we ate” when we discover a particularly fun recipe. We also like to bake and make jams and pickled things. You’ll hear about those too.

And we love our two dogs, Adia and Piper. Another regular feature is “Friday Dog Photo” where you’ll get to see the monsters up close and personal.

Thanks for stopping by to like a couple of my posts and then following – thank you! I will be following yours as I love your house and will enjoy following your adventures. Maybe I will get inspired.

Hello Lydia Street. I’m the Christine who posted a comment about spammers on Lilly Green’s blog. Nice to meet you! You’ll find me at christineevelynvance.wordpress.com or swallowinthewind.wordpress.com — and I also have a website.

I love the look of these houses, though I’ve never been inside an original. There’s a neighborhood being built in our area featuring homes of this design. It would be interesting to compare the “new” with the “old” on the inside.
